First Energy as a parent company administers the energy efficiency program for Metropolitan Edition (Met-Ed), Pennsylvania Electric (Penelec), Pennsylvania Power (Penn Power), and West Penn Power. The program summarizes the most of the programs offered by these utilities, the actual incentives might vary between the electric utilities.
Energy Conservation Kit Program: Customers of Met-Ed, Penelec, Penn Power, and West Penn are eligible to receive an energy conservation kit at no additional charge. The kit includes seven compact fluorescent light bulbs (CLFs), furnace filter whistle, and two LED night lights. Customers may request this kit over phone at 888-304-1623 or via onlne form.
Residential Energy Audit Program: All FirstEnergy's residential customers in PA are eligible for subsidized home energy audit. Home Energy Audit at maximum can cost up to $350; FirstEnergy will provide $250 rebate, essentially costing the customer maximum of $100 for the audit. The energy audit will include evaluation of the home's energy system, blower door test, appliance test, and health and safety tests. The auditor will also install up to $200 worth of energy saving products including CFL bulbs, LED bulbs, smart power strip, faucet aerators, furnace whistle, and pipe insulation. The homeowners may qualify for additional bonus incentive of $100 for reaching 2,000 kWh in energy savings, and $150 for reaching 3,000 kWh in energy savings. You can participate in the program by scheduling a home audit with a participating energy auditor available in the program website.
Appliance Rebate Program: The program offers rebates for a variety of energy efficiency appliances. Check the table above for eligible product and rebate amounts.
HVAC & Water Heating: The program offers free tune up of an existing HVAC system that are more than 7 years old.
Solar Water Heater Rebate: Customers of FirstEnergy also receive $500 rebate for installation of high efficiency solar thermal water heating systems. Interested participants can contact a participating contractor for more information.
WARM Program for Low-Income households: Low income customers of Penn Power can participate in the WARM energy conservation program to make their homes energy efficient. The program is available to both homeowners and renters. The program includes in-home evaluation, specialized energy savings plan, and energy savings items installed in customers home. To quality the customer must have a gross income (before tax) at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines and use at least 600 kwh of electricity per month.
