Summary

New Jersey’s Clean Energy WARMAdvantage Program offers rebates on furnaces, boilers and water heaters with the objective of improving the efficiency of space heating and water heating systems. The COOLAdvantage Program offers rebates for energy efficient cooling equipment. The programs are currently available statewide to all New Jersey residents, (i.e., including users of oil, propane, and electric customers of municipal utilities. Measures must be installed as retrofits in existing homes; new construction does not qualify.

Residential Gas Customers: Gas furnaces, boilers, and water heaters can qualify for incentives of $250 to $500. A $1,200 rebate is available for ENERGY STAR qualified solar domestic water heaters.

In order to be eligible for this program, applicants must be current residential gas customers of Elizabethtown Gas, New Jersey Natural Gas, Public Service Electric and Gas, or South Jersey Gas or use propane for heating purposes. Several of these utilities also offer supplemental incentives for residential space and water heating applications.

Residential Electric Customers: ENERGY STAR qualified solar hot water heaters that replace or supplement an existing electric water heater are eligible for a flat incentive of $1,200 per system. Additionally, incentives are available for new central AC system, air source heat pumps, ductless mini-split A/C or heat pump and geothermal heat pumps. These incentives are available to qualifying electric customers of Atlantic City Electric, Jersey Central Power & Light, Public Service Electric & Gas, or Rockland Electric as well as customers of the state's municipal electric utilities.

Oil Heating Customers: ENERGY STAR qualified oil furnaces and oil boilers qualify for an incentive of $250-$500 and $300 respectively.

A “Combination Rebate” of $700 is available for installing a qualified Boiler and a qualifying Water Heater, and $700-$950 for Furnace and Water Heater combination depending on the efficiency of the system.

Builders of new homes are not eligible to participate in the WARMAdvantage or COOLAdvantage programs, but are encouraged to participate in the Residential New Construction Program.
