Summary

Tideland Electric Membership Cooperative (TEMC) is an electric cooperative that serves customers in Craven, Dare, Washington, Pamlico, Beaufort and Hyde counties. Home, farm and business owners are able to take advantage of TEMC's five percent-interest Weatherization Loan Program.

This loan will cover the purchase and installation of energy efficient measures such as caulking, weather-stripping, heat pump systems, storage water heaters, HVAC measures, storm/thermal windows and doors, and equipment insulation for existing homes. Heat pump systems and central heating or air conditioning systems should be of efficiency no lower than SEER 15. Other major Energy Star rated products excluding electronics and small appliances are also eligible for the loan. Repayment terms vary by the loan amount. Loan terms shall be for a maximum of 5 years (60 months). Generally the repayment term is up to 24 months for loans less than or equal to $5,000; up to 36 months for loans greater than $5,000 but less than $10,000, and up to 60 months for loans greater than or equal to $10,000. If the requested loan amount is $10,000 or more, the loan must be secured by a first or second Deed of Trust. Loan recipients must have been a customer of TEMC and occupied the space for at least one year. For more information on how to apply for the loan and possible improvements eligible, see the program web site above.
