Summary

Starting from August, 2014, Delaware Sustainable Utility (DESEU) and Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNRC) are jointly offering financial incentives for solar hot water and geothermal systems. The program has total budget of $1 million for the fiscal year 2014-2015.

Eligibility

The program is open to all non-residential and non-profit participants in the State, regardless of utility jurisdiction.  To apply for the program, applicants must sign up for an online account on the www.greengrantdelaware.com website. Paper applications are no longer accepted by the program. The project needs to be approved by the program before construction process. Incentives are paid after the completion of the project.

Program Description

The financial incentives are based on the size of systems and are provided in a table below:

The maximum incentive for both Solar Water Heating and Geothermal systems are capped at $200,000 per project. The system size is limited to 80% of thermal load of the building. The program requires that the Solar Water Heating systems must meet OG-300 certification by Solar Rating and Certification Corporation (SRCC). For systems that are not OG-300 certified are required to be assessed by a licensed Delaware professional engineer to certify and calculate energy savings. Geothermal systems must meet an Energy Efficiency Rating (EER) or at least 18 and a Coefficient of Performance (COP) of at least 3.6.
