Solar & Battery Regulation & Incentive Programs
The mayor and city council of Chandler, AZ adopted Resolution 4199 in June 2008, establishing incentives for green building in the private sector. Permit applications for buildings registered with the US Green Building Council's (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for New Construction, Core and Shell, Commercial Interiors or Schools, which are pursuing a certification level of Silver or higher will be granted an expedited plan review from the city. To be eligible, project teams must also include a LEED Accredited Professional or hire a consultant with such qualifications. Projects must also submit a LEED checklist showing which LEED points are being pursued and applicants must sign an agreement stating that projects will be built as indicated in the approved site plan. Additional requirements must also be met and are fully described in the program guidelines above.
Participating projects will also receive recognition from the city in the form of yard and window signs, and will have a chance to receive the Chandler Architectural Excellence Award in the Green Building category.
